Document Library

Material Safety Data Sheets & Certificates of Analysis

Search the full document library by product name or CAS number. Every SDS is published as a readable 16-section GHS sheet and as a PDF; every COA carries the specification, test parameters and methods. No registration, no login.

Accepts a product name, a trade name such as “caustic soda”, a molecular formula, or a CAS number with or without dashes. Results link to the readable MSDS and the COA specification.

Readable, not just downloadable

Each Material Safety Data Sheet is published as a full HTML page as well as a PDF, so you can read the hazard, handling and transport data without downloading anything.

Specification before you order

Every Certificate of Analysis sets out the test parameters, limits and methods for the standard grade, so your QA team can assess the material before a purchase order is raised.

Batch documents on despatch

A lot-specific certificate carrying the analysis of the material actually shipped is issued with each consignment, alongside the certificate of origin and shipping documents.

MSDS knowledge

Understanding Material Safety Data Sheets

What is the full form of MSDS?

MSDS stands for Material Safety Data Sheet. It is a structured document that describes a chemical's hazards, safe handling, storage, first-aid measures, transport classification and disposal requirements. Under the GHS system it is also called simply an SDS (Safety Data Sheet) — the two terms refer to the same 16-section document.

What are the 16 sections of an MSDS?

A GHS-format MSDS has 16 sections: 1) Identification, 2) Hazard identification, 3) Composition, 4) First-aid measures, 5) Fire-fighting measures, 6) Accidental release measures, 7) Handling and storage, 8) Exposure controls and PPE, 9) Physical and chemical properties, 10) Stability and reactivity, 11) Toxicological information, 12) Ecological information, 13) Disposal considerations, 14) Transport information, 15) Regulatory information, and 16) Other information. Every Scapex MSDS follows this full 16-section format.

What is an MSDS certificate and when do I need one?

An MSDS certificate is the safety data sheet issued by the manufacturer or supplier for a specific chemical product. You need it for workplace safety compliance, transport booking (sea, air and road carriers ask for it), customs clearance of hazardous cargo, and insurance. Scapex Exports issues an MSDS with every consignment, and every product's MSDS can be read and downloaded free from this library.

How do I find an MSDS by CAS number?

Type the CAS number into the search box on this page — for example 7647-01-0 for hydrochloric acid. The library matches products by name, synonym and CAS registry number, and links to the readable 16-section MSDS and the PDF for each.

Is there a difference between MSDS and SDS?

In practice, no. MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) is the older name; the GHS system shortened it to SDS (Safety Data Sheet) and standardised the 16-section format. Indian and international buyers use both names interchangeably, and Scapex documents carry the full GHS-compliant structure either way.
